88% Of Consumers Trust Online Reviews As Much As Personal Recommendations

Every year since 2011, BrightLocal has conducted its Consumer Review Survey that aims to “quantify the value that users place on the reviews they read & how this impacts their opinions & actions when seeking a local business to use,” and the 2014 results are in!

When told to select the business types participants had searched for in the last 12 months, 38% of participants listed doctors and dentists, making healthcare the second most-searched business online (restaurants took first place).  35% of the participants were reading reviews of doctors and dentists as they searched.

Also interesting is the breakdown of how a business’s star rating affects who will use their services. What is your practice’s Google star rating?

  • 92% of users will use a local business if it has a 4 star rating.
  • 72% of consumers will use a local business if it has a 3 star rating.
  • 27% of users will use a local business if it has a 2 star rating.
  • 13% of users will use a local business if it has a 1 star rating.

  1. Great graphics guys! really brings out the stats. It’s also really interesting to see that more consumers are reading even more reviews now, before they make their decision.
