Online marketing is a big, bad, ever-changing world. With the constant changes, it’s easy for your practice to feel overwhelmed. Change can be a good thing though. This is especially true for the latest round of Google and Facebook updates. The new tools will allow you to create and expand your social presence without having to be an IT genius. A recent blog post on Kevinmd.com provides an overview of the changes, but here are a few of the highlights:
Google Panda and Penguin: One change comes from Google with their systems codenamed “Panda” and “Penguin.” Basically, these processes will remove sites filled with invaluable, weak keywords or irrelevant linking. This means that if your practice site contains solid content focused on positively educating patients Google will rank you higher in their searches.
Facebook pin to top: Facebook is introducing a “Pin to Top” feature, which will allow you keep an important or exciting post at the top of your Facebook page rather than it being pushed to the bottom over time. All you have to do is click the pencil graphic in the right-hand corner of your post and select “Pin to Top.”’
Facebook promoted posts: If your page has over 400 followers, you will be able to “promote” a post by setting a budget to have it appear repeatedly over several days. This means that there is a greater chance that your followers will see your post in their newsfeeds.
