A social media background is an asset in medicine

In a recent blog post on Kevin MD Allison A. Greco, a medical student, explains why she  has chosen to take part in social media.

Just a few of her main points, include:

– Social media will help her establish credibility so she can advocate for patients, particularly in the media.

– Celebrities and politicians hold more sway when it comes to providing medical information and changing public opinion than trained physicians. Social media and communications will help her reach patients, government and community leaders, and colleagues.

– Social media will allow her to become a more effective medical educator.
