You’ve probably already heard the statistic from the 2011 Pew Internet survey that more than 80% of U.S. adults are using the Internet to search for healthcare information. So what Internet sites would you hope your patients are reading to answer their cardiovascular or women’s health or pediatric questions? You should blog about it. Tweet about it. Post a link on your practice’s Facebook page to the article you wish your patients would read. Make sure your practice’s website has the links to the health information sites that you trust the most. Maybe you have tips to share with your patients to help them evaluate the information they might read on the Internet. Those tips would make great content for the social media outlets as well. There’s a lot of health information on the Internet and you can be the voice of authority for your patients to help them discern what’s reliable.
